Washington DC - Northern Virginia - Suburban Maryland - Baltimore

Thursday April 28th thru Sunday May 1st, 2022

The Spring 2022 Convention (Washington, DC - VA - MD) will be headquartered at the Crowne Plaza - Crystal City - located at 1480 Crystal Drive, Arlington, VA.  This will be a 4-day (Thursday thru Sunday) Convention.

Convention Activities: Registration and sign-in will take place in the Crowne Plaza - Crystal Springs lobby near the Registration Desk starting at 7:30 AM on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with buses departing promptly at 8:00 AM each day.

Garage and Facility Tours: The tentative itinerary includes the following locations, subject to change

Thursday, April 28 - Northern Virginia
The following visits have been requested; and the last three locations are Transit Centers or transfer facilities which could substitute for some venues:
WMATA Four Mile Run depot
ART/Arlington, VA Transit facility
DASH/Alexandria, VA Transit facility
CUE/City of Fairfax, VA Transit facility
PRTC/Omni Ride Woodbridge, VA Transit facility
Shirlington Transit Center
King Street Metro Transfer Center
Huntington Metro Transfer Center

Friday, April 29 D.C. and Northern Virginia
The following visits have been requested; there may be transit center substitutions required.
WMATA Silver Line ride (new Metro Line)
Fairfax, VA Connector Maintenance facility
Loudon, VA Transit Maintenance facility
WMATA Shepherd Parkway depot
DC Circulator Maintenance facility
Union Station or Mall stop for lunch.

The MBS Business meeting will take place on Friday, April 29th starting at 7:00 PM (EST)  We are planning to simulcast the business meeting and guest speaker via ZOOM.  More details on how to join via ZOOM will be announced on or about April 1st.

Saturday, Apr. 30 D.C. and Maryland
The following visits have been requested; the last transit center and the last transfer facility
are substitutions if needed.
RIDE ON / Kensington, Silver Spring, or Gaithersburg Maintenance facility
THE BUS / Prince George's County, MD Transit facility
SHUTTLE UM / Univ. of Maryland Transit facility
National Capital Trolley Museum
Takoma Langley Crossroads Transit Center
Silver Spring Metro Station
Paul Sarbanes Transit Center

Sunday, May 1 - Maryland
The following visits have been requested; we may stop at one or more of the private bus companies listed below if available and time allows.

Baltimore Streetcar Museum
B&O Museum
Eyre Bus Co/Glenelg, MD
Keller Bus Service/Waldorf, MD
Martz/Gold Line/Hyattsville, MD

Academy Lines/Capitol Heights, MD

Convention Registration Information Package is now available - see the link under "Spring 2022 Washington DC Convention" to the right or just below.  The deadline for making hotel reservations using the MBS discounted room rate is:  Monday March 28th.

COVID-19 ADVISORY - The MBS strongly suggests that you be vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend this trip.  The MBS cannot guarantee that you will be admitted to all venues that will be visited if you are not vaccinated.

The Motor Bus Society was founded in 1948 as the National Motor Bus Association. The purpose of the organization then, as it is now, is the collection and publication of information about the history and development of the bus industry in North America . Motor Bus Society members includes industry professionals, students and members of the general public who have an interest in bus transportation industry and bus equipment.

Twice per year, the Motor Bus Society members holds two conventions in the Spring and Fall.  Conventions feature bus excursions (sometimes on historical equipment), bus garage and bus facility tours and photo stops.

As a member of the Motor Bus Society, you will also receive our quarterly publication, Motor Coach Age 

Selected back issues of Motor Coach Age and Motor Coach Today (no longer published) are still available for purchase.  Just let us know if you wish to purchase back issues. 

Now celebrating our 74th year, the MBS has over 500+ members in the US, Canada and abroad!  We invite you to become a member of the MBS.
